Per the Telegraph, the Los Blancos have identified Denmark midfielder Hojbjerg as a potential replacement for the departed Brazilian.
Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti is said to be a huge admirer of the 27-year-old midfielder and tried to sign him during his time in charge of Everton.
But he lost out to Tottenham two years ago as the player preferred to play under Jose Mourinho instead. Last weekend at Stamford Bridge, Hojbjerg scored his first ever away goal for Tottenham in the Premier League against Chelsea.
