Liverpool 9:0 Bournemouth: Rampant Reds Hand Premier League Newboys Baptism Of Fire

Liverpool recorded their first win of the season with a statement win over Premier League newbies Bournemouth The Reds brutally smashed their hapless visitors to banish their winless run of the season with an impressive performance that will put their fear of God in the other title contenders Liverpool's 9-0 win is their biggest-ever Premier League win and are just the fourth team to score nine in one match.

Liverpool finally got off the mark with a resounding win against a hapless Bournemouth at Anfield on Saturday afternoon. A brace from Firmino and Luis Diaz and single strikes from Alexander-Arnold, Harvey Elliot, defender Van Dijk, Carvalho and an own goal from Mepham ensured the Reds recorded an emphatic first win of the campaign.

Jurgen Klopp's charges commenced the game like a house on fire, bombarding the opposition goal area as the Reds went in search of their first win of the campaign.

And deservedly broke the game's deadlock through Luis Diaz, who latched onto a cross from Roberto Firmino to plant the ball at the back of the net with a fine header after a VAR review verified the Colombian's goal.

Three minutes later, Harvey Elliot doubled their lead with a fine drive from outside the box as Liverpool threatened an onslaught. Talisman Mohamed Salah spurned two good opportunities to increase Liverpool's tally as the rampant Reds did not take their foot off the pedal after striking twice before ten minutes.

Underfire fullback Trent Alexander-Arnold brought daylight between the two sides when he unleashed a ferocious shot from distance to stretch Liverpool's lead just before the half-hour mark. Matters grew from bad to worse after 31 minutes with Firmino pouncing on a loose ball inside the box, beating the goalkeeper with a shot into the top corner - putting the game to bed before halftime.

Liverpool added a fifth when Van Dijk connected beautifully from an Andy Robertson corner kick - it was the first time Liverpool had put five past an opposition in the first half of a Premier League game.

After recess, it was more of the same from the Merseyside outfit, who persisted and probed for more. A pitiful moment for the visitors saw Chris Mepham score an own goal as he attempted to clear a cross. Firmino scored his personal second and the team's seventh two minutes after the hour mark when he fired home from a rebound to underline his return to form. Youngster Fabio Carvalho showed his immense technical ability as he volleyed the ball from inside the box beyond the reach of Bournemouth goalkeeper Travers to add insult to injuries.

Diaz took after Firmino to score his personal brace and Liverpool's ninth of the afternoon to add the icing on the cake with five minutes left on the clock. His effort proved the last of the act ensuring Liverpool grabbed their first win of the season in sensational style.
