Manchester United close to signing Casemiro from Real Madrid in deal worth up to €70m
Manchester United are close to signing Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro in a deal worth an initial €60million, rising to €70million if all clauses and conditions are met.
The Brazil international has agreed a four-year contract at Old Trafford in a deal negotiated by United’s football director, John Murtough.
Casemiro’s contract offer includes the option of a fifth year that can be triggered as an option.
The deal is not yet completed but it is understood to be proceeding at good speed. United are now confident of signing the player, with a medical set to be the next stage in the coming days.
The 30-year-old is already among the highest earners at Real Madrid and while United’s offer is not close to the double-your-money package that has been suggested in the Spanish media, Casemiro will be well among the club’s top earners, with the exception of Cristiano Ronaldo.
It is understood his salary will be on a similar level to that of David de Gea, who has been reported to earn in excess of £350,000.
SPORTS XENTRAL understands Casemiro will receive a modest uplift if United qualify for the Champions League and his deal will be heavily incentivised and performance-related. While he stands to earn slightly more with United than Real, his earnings will drop significantly if Erik ten Hag’s side continue to miss out on Champions League football.
