Barcelona and Manchester City shared the spoils in a special friendly game held at the Nou Camp Over 90 000 fans packed into the Nou Camp to watch Barcelona take on Manchester City in a charity game.
The special friendly charity match was held in honour of former Barcelona goalkeeper Juan Carlos Unzué.
Barcelona and Manchester City gave fans an absolute treat when they competed in a friendly charity game at the Nou Camp.
The two sides contested the friendly to raise funds, and awareness, for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), in honour of Barcelona legend Juan Carlos Unzué.
The game was action-packed from the get-go despite being billed as a friendly match. Barca dominated large spells of the first 45 minutes and were unlucky to actually go behind first. Iñaki Peña’s costly error gifted City the lead as Julián Álvarez tapped into an empty net.
City could have gone 2-0 up just minutes later when Jules Koundé gave the ball away to Cole Palmer. The midfielder found space and fired his shot just over the bar.
Barcelona drew level not long after as Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang volleyed home from close range. The Gabonese striker latched on to a Raphinha free-kick to pull Barca level.
While the host team dominated possession in the first half, the visitors dominated the second half.
City came out of the blocks firing on all levels and peppered the Barca defence. Sergio Busquets, Gerard Pique and Koundé sometimes looked at odds with each other, allowing Álvarez to test Peña in the Barca goal. City’s inability to score came back to haunt them when Frenkie de Jong put Barca in front. Two minutes later, City were back level when Palmer scored.
It then didn’t take long before Barca restored their lead when Depay scored from a Sergi Roberto cross. Depay missed a one-on-one chance earlier in the game but made up for it to put Barca 3-2 up.
With time running out and five minutes of extra time added on, City drew the game level again thanks to a penalty.
Erling Haaland appeared to go down easily in the box, earning his side a penalty. Riyad Mahrez stepped up and dispatched the ball into the back of the net to make it 3-3.
